Hayato Sumino Music Video Productions at raw studios. Berlin
Internationally acclaimed Japanese pianist
Hayato Sumino selected
raw studios. Berlin as the production location for two distinct music videos — each exploring a different spatial and visual atmosphere.
With a touring schedule spanning Europe and the United States, the artist and his French production team dedicated focused studio days in Berlin to realize these cinematic piano performances.
“Raindrop Postlude” – Intimate Light and Architectural Clarity
The first production, “Raindrop Postlude,” was filmed primarily in
Studio 2,
with selected scenes in
Studio 1
and exterior sequences outside the building.
Studio 2’s natural daylight and controlled environment allowed for refined, intimate framing around the Steinway grand piano.
The visual direction emphasized clarity, minimalism, and emotional precision — aligning with the subtle tonal shifts of the composition.
Two Steinway pianos were transported to the studio, enabling multiple performance angles and visual variations across two full production days.
The shoot required careful coordination of lighting, camera movement, and acoustic sensitivity — a balance between technical control and artistic freedom.
“White Keys” – Atmospheric Performance in Studio 1
The second music video introduced an entirely different mood.
Filmed mainly in
Studio 1,
the set was transformed into an atmospheric stage environment using translucent curtains installed in all four corners of the space.
Wind machines created soft movement throughout the fabric, generating a dynamic interplay between stillness and motion.
The 4.1-meter ceiling height and flexible layout of Studio 1 allowed the team to sculpt the space with depth and airflow, producing a visually layered performance setting.
Light passing through the sheer curtains created subtle diffusion and texture — enhancing the emotional intensity of the piano performance.
Where “Raindrop Postlude” focused on intimacy and architectural restraint, “White Keys” explored movement, atmosphere, and spatial fluidity.
